Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce: Press Release
St. Louis, MO, may get all the attention with the Arch, Cardinal Baseball, and its bustling food scene. But just 50 miles southwest on 94, perched on the Missouri Bluffs and near the Missouri River, sits Augusta, Defiance, New Melle, and Washington, MO. “Small Town America” is the theme of the 2015 Augusta Plein Air Art Festival, April 23 – May 3 featuring over 100 artists nationwide. There will be three workshops offered during the festival.

These vibrant rural communities will be hosting special days of Plein Air painting throughout the Festival. One of the most appealing features of these small towns is the astounding natural beauty that surrounds them; from spectacular hills, orchards vineyards to family farms. Visitors will find the beauty of historic buildings, a wide variety of unique eateries, lost and found treasures in the antique shops, and above all warm Midwest hospitality.

You are invited to follow the artists and enjoy their vision as they capture the local landscape on a canvas within an assigned amount of time. Families will enjoy exploring each of these towns as well as the nearby Daniel Boones home.

Experience the charm, beauty, and excitement of “Small Town America”. There is something for everyone at the 2015 Augusta Plein Air Festival.
